America Haunts Attractions Bring Fear to Those Who Crave It!

FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich., Oct. 1, 2012 /PRNewswire/ — Whether haunted house fans seek to be a little scared or a lot scared, the members of America Haunts have just what they need to get their fear on this Halloween.

The group that delivers fear-based entertainment to more than a million thrill-seekers each Halloween season announced the launch of some of its newest attractions and the return of some old favorites for visitors of all ages.

Spookywoods (High Point, NC)—Imagine traveling at the (seemingly) speed of light through cold and darkness while suspended hundreds of feet above a mad pack of roaming killer clowns out for blood. With more than 1.5 miles of cable, the Zipline of Terror is one of the largest in the world. The brave take a leap off a 60-foot sky deck into total darkness with a glow stick and a scream.

13th Floor (Denver)—Thanks to Microsoft Kinect technology this haunt features the first animatronics that can actually interact on their own with customers. The animation’s behavior is based on the attributes of the individual and can identify the difference between a child and an adult, thus allowing it to be friendly to children and aggressive toward adult guests.

Pennhurst Asylum (Philadelphia)—Take the 20-minute Self-Guided Ghost Tour of the Mayflower Building. Armed with only a flashlight, guests are encouraged to wander the untouched dormitory where reporting and photographs of ghosts and spiritual happenings have been witnessed. At this attraction there are no actors or special effects, just the guests and their wildest imagination.

Edge of Hell (Kansas City, Mo.)—Meet Medusa, the world’s longest anaconda in captivity. This 25-foot, 300-pound snake eats a 40-pound animal about once a week (deer, rabbits and more) and can easily eat something weighing more than 100 pounds and snap people in half—if she’s in a foul mood.

Cutting Edge (Fort Worth, Texas)—See this haunted attraction attempt to retain its Guinness title as the world’s largest walk-through haunted house on October 5.

13th Gate (Baton Rouge, La)—Included among the $350,000 in renovations is a haunted house/cemetery with an underground entrance.

7 Floors of Hell (Cleveland)—From a Zombie Apocalypse to the Blood Barn to Evil Visions 3D, find a floor that isn’t frightening.

Nightmare on 13th (Salt Lake City)—Visit the new Cirque Du Fear and experience a twisted corruption of one’s innocent childhood dreams of carnivals and circuses.

Netherworld (Atlanta)—Good luck getting through the 40-foot long spinning tunnel in a single pair of underwear.

The Dent Schoolhouse (Cincinnati)—Meet Charlie McFree, the “Mickey Mouse of Horror.”

The Scarehouse (Pittsburgh)—If you thought Charlie was bad, just wait until you meet the latest edition to the Scarehouse family, Creepo the Clown.
