In the haunted attraction world, transformation is the name of the game. And in 2025, Nightmare on 13th — Utah’s #1 haunted house — is taking it to a whole new level. As we enter our 36th season, we’ve embarked on one of the most ambitious renovations in our history, gutting a beloved section of the haunt to make room for something entirely new: Horror Cinema.
Saying Goodbye to Legends
This year’s massive overhaul began with a bold decision — to retire two of our most iconic and long-standing scenes: Sleepy Hollow and iScream. Both were guest favorites for years, but in true Nightmare fashion, we believe evolution is what keeps us terrifying, fresh, and unforgettable. These rooms weren’t just cleared out — they were deconstructed, reimagined, and reborn into something truly cinematic.
Welcome to Horror Cinema
Guests will now descend into a late 1990s New York City street, a gritty and eerie alley bathed in flickering light and surrounded by spooky, shadowy figures. In the distance, a faded movie theater marquee glows…inviting unsuspecting guests to its doors.
You make your way through the street, past trash bins and alley creatures, until you’re face-to-face with the towering facade of the Horror Cinema. Once inside, the floor is sticky, the air is thick, and the popcorn has long gone stale. You’re not here to watch the movie… you’re here to survive it.
The Double Feature
What sets Horror Cinema apart is the way it blends story, atmosphere, and scares into a two-part journey through film — from the screen into the nightmare.
Feature One: The Thing With Red Eyes
Your first feature launches you into a military bunker, in the midst of some type of attack from the unknown. This is a “Mothman”-style nightmare where something has gone horribly wrong. Creatures bred or summoned through shadowy experiments have escaped containment, and you’re caught in the middle. The red eyes in the dark aren’t just watching — they’re hunting.
The deeper you go, the worse it gets. The question isn’t where the monsters are. It’s whether you’ll get out before they find you.
Feature Two: Final Cut
If you survive the bunker, you’re not safe yet. The screen warps again and drops you in front of a dilapidated old house — the one on the corner nobody talks about, the one kids dare each other to approach. Inside lives a slasher obsessed with slashers. Walls are lined with newspaper clippings, VHS tapes, and homemade weapons. You’re not watching you’re favorite slasher flick — you’re walking into a real-life slasher’s home…and you’re the final scene. This is the finale of the haunted house you’ve all been dying for!
More to Fear in 2025
But Horror Cinema is just the beginning. We’ve also added exciting changes to our second, fear-packed attraction: Institute of Terror, and we are thrilled to be part of the Legendary Haunt Tour this November — welcoming haunters from around the world to experience our biggest year yet.
And for families looking for chills without the screams, our Day Haunt continues to grow in popularity, offering a scare-free experience with full show lighting — perfect for younger guests.
Our Club Nightmare Event Space is open year-round for private parties, corporate gatherings, or anyone wanting a taste of Nightmare on 13th’s one-of-a-kind vibe, no matter the season.
A Legacy of Screams
With millions of screaming, satisfied guests over 36 years, Nightmare on 13th continues to evolve — always scarier, always smarter, and always pushing what a haunted house can be.
This season, step through the screen and into your nightmare.
