For 30 seasons, the halls of The Dent Schoolhouse have echoed with screams.

What began decades ago as a local haunted attraction has grown into a Cincinnati Halloween tradition, welcoming generations of thrill-seekers through its doors. Now, as The Dent Schoolhouse prepares to celebrate its 30th Season of Screams, the crew isn’t simply looking back at the past.

They’ve been busy building what may be Dent’s biggest season yet.

30 Seasons — and We’re Still Not Done

Anniversary years are usually a time to celebrate what came before. At Dent, the team decided it was also the perfect excuse to upgrade just about every side, corner, and area of the property.

Throughout the off-season, guests may notice changes both big and small across The Dent Schoolhouse, from refreshed scares and renovated environments to entirely new experiences.

One of the biggest behind-the-scenes upgrades for 2026 is something guests may not immediately see — but they’ll certainly hear and feel it.

New speakers and upgraded audio systems have been installed throughout the attraction, paired with updated soundtracks and sound design. The goal is to make Dent’s environments even more immersive, allowing the rumble, music, screams, machinery, creatures, and chaos of the schoolhouse to surround guests like never before.

Because sometimes hearing the monster coming is worse than actually seeing it.

There’s Something New in the Basement…

For guests brave enough to descend deeper into Dent, a new Basement of Nightmares awaits.

The basement has always been one of the darkest and most unsettling parts of The Dent Schoolhouse, and for the 30th season, new horrors are waiting below.

We could tell you exactly what you’ll find down there.

But where’s the fun in that?

Let’s just say the basement has been busy.

A Wild New Ending

Surviving the schoolhouse doesn’t mean you’re safe.

The final portion of the attraction has undergone a major renovation, transforming the ending into an overgrown nightmare filled with werewolves, spiders, and other creatures lurking where they shouldn’t be.

Guests will have to make their way through this newly reimagined environment before they can finally escape into the Monster Midway.

Assuming, of course, they make it that far.  And yes, the bubbles make a return for their iconic suds filled ending.

More Monsters in the Midway

The scares may begin inside the schoolhouse, but the night doesn’t end when guests exit the attraction.

The Monster Midway is getting even bigger for Dent’s 30th season with eight-plus new photo opportunities, new surprises, and another attraction inspired by one of Dent’s most recognizable characters.

Introducing Pumpkin Smasher’s Scarecrow Showdown!

Guests can step up and test their aim in this new pumpkin-tossing game themed around Dent’s own Pumpkin Smasher. Knock down the scarecrows, prove your pumpkin-smashing skills, and maybe earn a little bragging rights along the way.

And that’s only part of what’s new in the Midway.

Dent isn’t revealing every surprise before opening night.

Even the School Bus Has Secrets

Longtime Dent fans know the old school bus sitting out front.

Thousands of guests have walked past it while waiting to enter the attraction over the years. For the 30th season, it might be worth paying a little more attention to it.

The bus has a few new surprises planned for guests waiting in the queue.

Keep watching.

You never know when something might happen.

Take a Piece of Dent Home

The Spooky Shop is also getting stocked for the anniversary season with plenty of new Dent Schoolhouse merchandise and collectibles.

Among the new additions are Dent-themed acrylic collectible figures, bringing some of the attraction’s most recognizable monsters and characters off the midway and onto your shelf.

Whether you’ve been visiting Dent for decades or 2026 is your first trip through the schoolhouse, there will be plenty of new ways to take a little piece of Cincinnati’s Halloween tradition home with you.

Just be careful what you invite into the house.

And Then There’s Mr. Shady…

Of all the new things coming to The Dent Schoolhouse in 2026, perhaps none casts a longer shadow than Mr. Shady.

Tall. Gangly. Crooked.

And always followed by a shadow that seems to have a mind of its own.

Mr. Shady is the newest character joining the halls and grounds of The Dent Schoolhouse for its 30th season. Guests would be wise to be careful around him — especially if he offers to make a deal.

He’ll promise you the moon…  and a pocket of maybes.

Whatever you do, don’t trust the shadow.

30 Seasons of Screams

Thirty seasons is a milestone worth celebrating, but The Dent Schoolhouse isn’t interested in simply putting a birthday candle on the same old nightmare.

From upgraded audio and new soundtracks to a new basement experience, a completely renovated finale, expanded Monster Midway entertainment, new photo ops, Pumpkin Smasher’s new game, collectible merchandise, queue-line surprises, Mr. Shady, and plenty of things we’re still not telling you about, the 2026 season is shaping up to be one of the biggest in Dent history.

For longtime fans, there will be plenty of familiar nightmares waiting for you.

There will also be plenty you haven’t seen before.

30 Seasons of Screams.

And somehow, The Dent Schoolhouse is just getting started.
