With heavy hearts, we mourn the passing of Ed Terebus<\/strong>\u2014a founding member of America Haunts, a visionary in the world of immersive horror, and a beloved friend to so many of us in the haunted attraction community.<\/p>\n

For more than two decades, Ed and his brother Jim have terrified and thrilled millions through their iconic attraction, Erebus Haunted Attraction<\/strong> in Pontiac, Michigan. What began as a bold idea in a massive abandoned building quickly evolved into one of the most celebrated haunts in the world\u2014holding the Guinness World Record for the longest walk-through haunted attraction for many years, and consistently landing on the top haunted attraction lists across the globe.<\/p>\n

But Ed was far more than just a haunter. He was a trailblazer<\/strong>. A showman<\/strong>. A mentor<\/strong>. And above all, a giver<\/strong>. He gave his time, his creativity, his boundless energy, and his genuine support to haunts of all sizes, in every corner of the country.<\/p>\n

As one of the founding members of America Haunts<\/strong>, Ed helped shape the direction of our industry, raising the bar and pushing boundaries for what a haunted attraction could be. His leadership and vision inspired others to dream bigger, scare smarter, and invest more deeply in the art and craft of haunting.\"\"<\/p>\n

Erebus wasn\u2019t just an attraction\u2014it was an experience. Every square inch of its four floors was carefully curated by Ed and his team to create maximum fear and awe. He understood the science of scare, the psychology of suspense, and the thrill of surprise. His work became the benchmark for excellence in our industry, and he never stopped innovating.<\/p>\n

Beyond Erebus, Ed\u2019s contributions were felt in every project he touched\u2014from the Fear Finder<\/strong> magazine that promoted dozens of haunts across Michigan, to the Erebus Escape<\/strong> rooms and the newly opened Mythos Museum of Oddities and Curiosities<\/strong>. Each one reflected his unique blend of creativity, curiosity, and storytelling brilliance.<\/p>\n

\"\"But what we\u2019ll miss most is Ed the person. He was always approachable. Always encouraging. Always ready to swap stories, brainstorm scares, or share a laugh over a haunt-season memory. He had a magnetic personality and a generous heart\u2014and his impact will echo through the haunt world for generations to come.<\/p>\n
